I started my day with a laugh, thanks to a great video in Crooks and Liars. It's a dramatic reading of the Transcript of the Town Meeting of Wasilla, Alaska - May 1996 (read by the actor Chris Schneider): go there.
Being a mayor implies so much executive experience!

This is not much of a diary, but I just had to pass this on. I LOVE this line!
Sleeping with a Secessionist ...
Do we want a separtist with easy access to the centers of power in the nation? What would it mean to have a Vice President (likely President) sleeping with a separtist?
This question is essentially absent from the pages of traditional media.
Imagine if Michelle Obama were a registered member of the Black Panthers until 2002? Imagine the drumbeat of outrage that all Americans would hear. About Todd "My Guy" Palin's separtist credentials? Crickets chirping in the night ...
Sarah Palin has not just sleeping with a separtist but clearly seems to be in the realm of fellow traveler.

The title for this post was taken directly from Mudflats, a progressive blog from Alaska that has posted what I think is a dynamite video that has the possibility of causing trouble for Palin-- if it could get enough exposure.
We all know that Palin is said to have been a member of the Alaska Independence Party (AIP), which is essentially a secessionist movement with the aim of making Alaska a sovereign country. Palin and the Republicans deny membership by Sarah, but it IS a given that Tod Palin was a registered member of the AIP from 1995 to 2002, when he reregistered as an undeclared voter.
The video in question is a recording from a meeting of the AIP. In it, the Vice Chairman (Dexter Clark) essentially implies that Sarah Palin is operating as a kind of infiltrator of the Republican Party in order to further the goals of the AIP.
