A question that comes out of where I think your thinking is going -- How many of the Republicans elected in the late 80's and into the 90's, especially 94, can credit their election to Gingrich's GOPAC, their money, and his tapes
on tactics
? He was sending out those tapes for some time, and created a generation of disciples to his methods. That crowd is the core of the House radicals now.
