Obama Approval on the Rise

You might not notice it from the coverage the President has been receiving in the establishment media, but according to Gallup, Barack Obama's approval rating is now higher than it has been in over two months:

With a 56 percent approval rating in Gallup polling -- exactly the same percentage of backing the President receives in the latest CBS News poll (.pdf) -- Barack Obama now sports better numbers than he has since early August. Indeed, if you look at the Pollster.com trend estimate (either the traditional reading or the more sensitive one aimed at picking up the latest movement), you'll see that President Obama's approval rating is moving upwards and his disapproval rating is moving downwards -- not at all a bad position to be in heading into the final sprint of the healthcare reform process.

Re: Obama Approval on the Rise

Final Sprint? We've only just passed the bills out of committee. They still have to be merged, debated, amended, voted on, conferenced, voted again and then signed.

So ages to go...

As long as its done by Christmas

It will get done.  If not, forget it for the next 20 years.

Wait

you said it had to get done in nine days...and that was five days ago.

That means.

CHRISTMAS IS IN FOUR DAYS!!!!

Holy Shit, I'd better put up the lights.

Re: Wait

If it is passed out of the Finance Committee on Tuesday(two days), we are in good shape.

You must've forgotten why

you went schizo and said healthcare won't pass if it doesn't pass by October 15.

Re: You must've forgotten why

He also said it was impossible to pass healthcare reform in this country, period!

Read my diary

I just may have been right after all.  Looks like Big Insurance will try to kill the bill tommorrow.

Re: Read my diary

"Health care reform is a near certain failure in August!

Health care reform needs to happen in 10 days or it will never happen!

Health care reform needs to happen by November 3rd or it will never happen!

Health care reform needs to happen by Christmas or it will never happen!

Health care reform is going to get killed by Big Insurance tomorrow!"

How will the health care debate end up?  I honestly couldn't tell you, but regardless of the outcome I promise you that Kent will find a way to say "I told you so!" even if every single prediction he made/will make turns out to be completely wrong.

I'm afraid to ask, but I bet Kant even knows when I'll die.

Clearly not here.

Clearly Gallup did not poll MYDD denizens where Obama approval seems to be in (maybe) the low twenties.

Re: Clearly not here.

Obama is actually 7 points more popular at Free Republic than here. Over there he's at 8%.

Re: Obama Approval on the Rise

Well, you see, according to the news room it is not news if polls show Obama is popular again, because everyone already thinks he is popular, so it's only news if his popularity declines.

He's not gaining popularity fast enoguh for me

I know he's burdened with a war in Afghanistan he did not start, bringing the world back from the economic brink, and providing universal health care coverage for America, but he's not gaining popularity fast enough for me. He's all promise of popularity and no action.

It's the Nobel Peace Prize bounce

I agree that Obama is POPULAR again.

More happy hour in the latest Pew poll

"One of the more surprising findings of the current survey is the expressed willingness of the opponents of health care reform to compromise on this issue. A clear majority of opponents (62%) - many of whom say they very strongly oppose health care reform proposals - say they would prefer to see opponents compromise with supporters to make the legislation better, rather than try to prevent a bill from passing.

Notably, supporters of health care reform - who are less likely than opponents to register very strong opinions about the proposals - are less inclined to compromise."

Re: Obama Approval on the Rise

This is TERRIBLE.

Now we're sure to lose the House & Senate for decades to come!

C'mon Kant, help me see the dark, dreary side to this!
