Hillary Clinton Releases Delegates

As expected, Hillary Clinton has just released her delegates. There were more boos than applause for this but she reassured them that she would not tell them how to vote. This was cheered by many.

"What that means is that both Senator Obama's name and mine will be put into nomination this afternoon. I have spoken to many of you who have expressed your questions about what you should do. Many of you feel a responsibility to represent your voters. Others of you want the chance to vote what's in your heart. Still others will be voting for Senator Obama because they want to demonstrate their commitment to the party and the nomninee. So I am not telling you what to do."

She also told her delegates:

"I signed my ballot this morning for Senator Obama."

Any chance she'll release Bill?

Source: Bill Clinton will not attend Obama's Invesco speech

What a selfish little man.

Re: Any chance she'll release Bill?

This isn't uncommon.  Jimmy Carter didn't attend either of Bill Clinton's speeches.  It's Obama's night anyway.

This is different.

And you know good and well why.

You're being silly

Clinton didn't attend Gore's acceptance speech, nor did he attend Kerry's acceptance speech.

Now, you make the case against Terry Mac for leaving early, but as to clinton, that's a invisible.

I'm tired of outrage, i'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

Re: Any chance she'll release Bill?

It's hardly selfish. You know all the media outfits would just have a camera locked on to him. Bill sneezes and then every news channel and paper would run four weeks of disrespect this and disunity that.

Re: Any chance she'll release Bill?

Agreed.  It has gotten to the point where we have stories like "Bill was smiling, but the gleam in his eyes was only moderately gleamy.  Clearly, he can barely control his MAMMOTH RAGE."

Sheesh.

Hey, Republican, we don't bash Democrats here.

Re: Any chance she'll release Bill?

This micro-analysis of every little thing Obama and the Clintons do is getting absurd.

Obama didn't attend Clintons speech!

This is stupid. The nominee doesn't appear until nominated, sorta like the tradition of the groom not being allowed to see the bride. Nor do the parents stick around for the wedding night. A former president doesn't hang around past his speech, it's not his night.

Re: Any chance she'll release Bill?

Little man who is the only Democrat to win the white house in more than 2 decades.  But go ahead and blame the Clintons.  You can blame them when Obama loses too.  Guess what though?  He will have lost.

Get a clue.

Re: Hillary Clinton Releases Delegates

Rumor is that McCain is seriously considering Kay Bailey Hutchison in order to pilfer reluctant female voters from the Democratic Party.  We can't let the Republicans elect the first female Pres or VP.

'We can't let Repubs elect the first female VP'
We can't let the Republicans elect the first female Pres or VP.

McCain won't pick a woman.

Re: Hillary Clinton Releases Delegates

Nah, I read 20 percent of Republicans would be less likely to vote McCain with a female VP. Does that really surprise anyone? He'll pick a white male.

Re: Hillary Clinton Releases Delegates

Hutchison is nominally pro-choice.  Won't happen.

Re: Kaye Bailey Hutcheson.

Ain't happening. Can you imagine what she would have to say when women asked her why she opposed the right to choose, or to keep a free market health plan, or to run the hundred year war. And she has a long and unpleasant conservative record, and does not control any critical constituency. Oh, just think what would happen if Hillary went up to campaign against her in Texas.

Bill Releases His Briefs

I'm sorry I couldn't help it.

For the library, maybe?

No, this is a very symbolic moment, and every delegate should mark their ballot for Obama.

Hillary in 2016, baby!

Re: Hillary Clinton Releases Delegates

What is it with this childish fascination with THE DRAMA?

Will Bill Clinton's presence or absence change a single voter's vote? Does Bill Clinton give a hairy rat's ass whether one of us respects him a bit more or a bit less because what we think of his plans for the evening? (seriously)

by QTG 2008-08-27 12:45PM | 0 recs
the political press is brain dead

the think Bill and Hill are the new Liz Taylor and Richard Burton

Re: Hillary Clinton Releases Delegates

I think this is the right move as STLSignes said the cameras would constantly be focusing on Bill for a reaction shot.  And the Ass Hats Pundits would parse every twitch.

Re: Hillary Clinton Releases Delegates

They already are- CNN had a body language "expert" on, that said because Hillary's cheeks didn't lift enough, she wasn't really supporting Obama in her speech last night.
They're so desperate to present a divided party, it's pathetic.

Re: Hillary Clinton Releases Delegates

You know...I've always been an Obama guy, but I find it absurd that in order to achieve unity we need to make her happy about losing.  "Not only did you lose, BUT YOU WILL LIKE IT!"

I mean.  Come on.  She's a human being, and a driven one at that.  It's amazing she even made the speech she made.  Now we want her to be happy about it?

Re: Hillary Clinton Releases Delegates

Pathetic indeed.

Maybe we should analyze the handwriting on those Hillary! signs too.  What about the shoes she was wearing?  Was the fact that her suit was orange some sort of signal?

Clearly, Dems trying to draw distinctions between Obama & McCain is not newsworthy.

by Fluffy Puff Marshmallow 2008-08-27 01:26PM | 0 recs
Obama should be prosecuted, not nominated.

This is probably why Bill Clinton is so upset.  I know I sure in hell would be.

Re: Hillary Clinton Releases Delegates

Jesus, leave Bill alone.

It's Obama's to win or lose.

If the media want's to make a big f-ing deal
about it, Obama will just have to deal with it.

Besides, don't we have better things to deal
with then what Bill does?

LET IT GO!
