McCain Brings Phil "Nation of Whiners" Gramm Back into the Fold

Thought that John McCain had taken enough of a beating for allowing his chief economic advisor to call America a "nation of whiners" and to speak about a "mental recession" facing the country? Think again. McCain is apparently welcoming Phil Gramm back into his presidential campaign with open arms.

Ousted John McCain campaign co-chairman Phil Gramm is back with the campaign's top advisers this weekend, as the campaign gathers top supporters for a series of briefings in scenic Aspen, Colo.

The former Texas senator stepped down from his position after he said in an interview last month that the country is in a "mental recession" and that we had become a "nation of whiners."

Gramm was seated in the front row, with other top supporters, this afternoon as McCain addressed the Aspen Institute in a "conversation" with Walter Isaacson, president of the institute and a former editor of Time magazine.

What a campaign McCain has been running this past week -- embracing Jack Abramoff's one-time best friend in politics, Ralph Reed, and now bringing back into the campaign Phil Gramm, a huge supporter of the subprime lending industry who mocked the economic crunch felt by many Americans. This is how McCain tries to convince voters he's not out of touch?

Who will know this out side of the blog worlds?

Yeah, but who is going to bring this up and point that fact out to the masses?

Wolf Blitzer? Kati Couric? Tom Brokaw?

They will be too busy anyalising the latest McCain ad and telling how HOW Obama has to prove he's not a celebrity elite...like they are?

Rachel Maddow will point this out, but, unfortunately, given the fact she is the smartest most honest person on the Television Machine, that means hardly anyone hears her.

Just as important: Aspen = Elite

Aspen is a pretty fancy place to Holiday.

Can you imagine how CNN and Kookie Roberts would be screaming if the Obama team decided to conduct a weekend strategy session in exotic Aspen.

Hwanas!

In Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot, Al Franken scientifically proved that Phil Gramm was Washington's biggest publicity hog by doing a Nexus search of the joke "The most dangerous place in Washington is between __ and a camera". Phil Gramm was the most often mentioned - second place wasn't close.

If you were to do that experiment today, I'm pretty sure Chuck Schumer would get the honors.

Re: Sounds like great ammo

Obama campaign MUST use Grahm's re-entrance as a great commercial called "out of touch" using Phills words against him.

Phil "Nation of Whiners" Gramm Back

When are the democrats going to start publicising the fact that Phil Gramm is responsible for the Banking Crisis because his Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act repealed the Glass-Steagall Act?
