New NBC/WSJ Poll Out Tonight

The new poll drops at 6:30ET tonight, and First Read is teasing this snippet early:

With the news that Iraq's prime minister wants the US to set a timetable for withdrawal, 60% of registered voters believe it's a good idea for the US to set such a timetable, while 30% say it's a bad idea.

Republicans have slacked on their War On Evil messaging. It now looks like the American and Iraqi people agree on a withdrawal strategy, and the Democratic nominee is ready to lead it. What's to be done?

Dick Cheney.

That's the 30% that has always planned to vote for him no matter what, even if he eats live babies on TV.

Any predictions for the candidate preference numbers? I say Obama 48-41.

The public has favored timetables for sometime now , not a huge news to me.

Re: New NBC/WSJ Poll Out Tonight

I worry that the poll results will overstate Obama's true support. If the question is premised with something like "Maliki said he supports a timetable for withdrawal--do you support a timetable for withdrawal?" then that will tend to push people's responses toward supporting a timetable. If this question is asked before the presidential preference question, it can also push more people toward Obama. A good result nonetheless.

Exactly the same as last month, Obama 47-41.
