Don't Forget Donna Edwards in Maryland

A big election, help Donna Edwards any way you can, jerome

With so much focus on the presidential contest, another important race takes place Tuesday in Maryland's 4th Congressional district featuring Netroots favorite and progressive activist Donna Edwards against corrupt, corporate Democrat named Al Wynn.

This is a rematch from 2006, when Wynn supporters physically assaulted Edwards supporters outside polling sites.

In recent days, Wynn sent out robocalls attacking Donna Edwards as a tax cheat. The Wynn campaign is very desperate and is making this very personal.  http://www.cqpolitics.com/wmspage.cfm?do cID=news-000002668478

Al Wynn is everything you can ask for in a bad Democrat.  He voted for the Iraq War.  He's a champion of predatory lenders and credit card companies.  He's pro-big oil.  He supports No Child Left Behind.  He's spent so much time in Washington he's forgotten where he came from.

I ask you to give Donna some 11th hour love.  She'll need every dollar she can get to defeat Wynn, something she came within 3 points of doing in 2006.  Visit my ActBlue page and give what you can.

A victory for Donna is a victory for progress in the Democratic Party.  Thank you!

Re: Don't Forget Donna Edwards in Maryland

First off, thank you for being the first person in way too long to post an important diary that's not a Clinton or Obama hit piece.

As Democrats we do ourselves a huge disservice to dwell in the realms of hatred and innuendo.  I have donated $250 so far to Donna Edwards and will continue to support her financially as she requests.  We need to root out the corrupt and demagogic politicians like Al Wynn who, to borrow and paraphrase from the Republicans, is a D.I.N.O.

I wonder if Al Wynn has declared who he intends on supporting as a super delegate. I would hope neither Obama nor Clinton would accept his endorsement.

I only feel bad I didn't do it sooner.  I've heard way too little about Donna this time, and I'm afraid we've let the Presidential race take our collective eye off the ball.

Hopefully Obama will bring out enough "change" voters to drag Wynn to the curb.

I'm afraid that this might not work

High turnout from the primaries means a lot of uninformed voters, who automatically vote for the incumbent. We saw a similar occurrence on Tuesday, when Mark Pera was defeated by a ~2-1 margin.

Re: Don't Forget Donna Edwards in Maryland

I'll be there bright and early to vote yet another Iraq-war voting bum out of office.  I don't know how he kept his job in 2006, but I'm voting against him again this year.  And forever, until he's gone.  Thanks for the reminder.

Wynn is the kind of corporatist John Edwards has railed against. He doesn't use his position to support people, he supports the corporations that feed him. Get him out!
