Obama's logo and txt vendors

I mentioned this video to a couple of people, about the creation of Obama's logo, and was met by blank stares. It's funny how you can run across something, and think, 'oh, everyone's watched this' and how that's the case at times, but others not. So, here they are, via VSA Partners:

LogoDesignLove has some snags and the story in images-- its ironic how all the other choices were not even close in comparison. Also, a WSJ article on some of the tech firms that Obama's campaign used for txt and online ads.

I haven't watched the video yet.  No sound at my work computer.  Or rather I don't feel like watching it here.

I always thought their typography was awesome: it just blew away "Ye Olde Salem Porridge Shoppe" Baskerville of the Hillary campaign and the "modern" (as in ball chairs and square lighting) style of McCain's.

Yea, HRC's had the imaginative quality of someone that looked at Kerry & Bush's '04 logo's and said, combine those two, and I think you nail it spot on with that characteristic. I think you need a second take on McCain's though, that not quite it...

Though unrelated, it's remarkable how close Obama's logo is to that of McGovern. I'm reading a couple of books currently, "The Liberals Moment" and "Why the Democrats are Blue", the former basically along the lines of TEDM and the latter being why dems will always lose-- both out in '07, prior to Obama winning. I think we will get more books along this line.
