Go Vote

Jonathan and I are canvassing with SEIU out in Nevada today, but we quickly broke out the laptop to remind those of you still at work or school to go and VOTE.

No matter what state you live in. No matter whether you've voted in every past election or never once. Voting is our duty.

And if you're feeling a little nervous about tonight's results, there's a great way to make yourself feel better: go vote and go volunteer.

All the info you need is one click away at voteforchange.com.

Find your polling location and vote.

Trust us, there's no news to catch up on. Or blogs to read. Come back in a few hours once the polls close. But now, go vote.

Re: Go Vote

I enjoy voting, walking down the street to a neighborhood garage, seeing people and voting.

Vote or you don't own your country

Whomever wins, we need to own our decisions; without Bush winning twice and seeing how that road ends, we wouldn't be in the position we're in right now: the position of being very close to electing Barack Hussein Obama II.

Owning our decisions is an American value.

Intrade numbers

These are the latest numbers from Intrade, the website which allows people to bet on political outcomes.  These are bets on who people think will win.  Take them for what they are worth, although I did hear on NPR that they predicted a Bush win on election day in 2004 and are considered more reliable than poll numbers because people are putting their money where their mouth is.

Anyways, here are the numbers in percentages at 2:23 pm Central time:

Obama win:  93%
McCain win:  7%

IN: 66% McCain
WV: 93% McCain
GA: 74% McCain
FL: 79% Obama
NC: 63% Obama
MO: 58% Obama
VA: 87% Obama
OH: 84% Obama
PA: 94% Obama
NM: 95% Obama
NV: 90% Obama
CO: 93% Obama
NC: 63% Obama

I like our chances!

Re: Intrade numbers

You have NC in there twice, which is fine because I love North Carolina. :D

Re: Intrade numbers

This is just bookmakers odds , and it will be fun to see whats really going on.

I voted. And I am in the dead center of what GOP considers their safest county in one of their safest states. Georgia. The ground zero for the Battle for the Senate, 60th seat.

Last week I tried to vote early, and the lines were so long I couldn't do it on my lunch break.

And I have to say, that my opinion regarding who would have voted for whom, at that time - was that the line was solidly in favor of Obama.
I dropped out of line after almost 2 hours, but I had a nice conversation with a fellow traveler.

So, gathering my courage to go vote today -
This week, in my local district, which is deeply conservative - today, I came ready to brace lines and timed my entry so that I would be there at the least populated time of the day.

To my great surprise, I saw .. crickets. The GOP GOTV operation in my neighborhood is failing completely.

GOP Saxby Chambliss is putting up, ten, twelve signs in a city block. As if to say, "come on everyone, where are you?"

The truth is, GA was energized by Sarah Palin, and as her star has faded, so too has the state - for the GOP.

Look for a surprisingly close race between Jim Martin and Saxby Chambliss today.

And who knows? Maybe Obama wins GA.

Re: Intrade numbers

It's not bookmaker odds. Sites like Intrade are essentially man-to-man estimate of probability at a given point in time, so-called wisdom of the masses.

Bookmaker or sportsbook odds are a different animal. They assign a fixed number then take bets on both sides. If the action is imbalanced, the bookmaker moves the odds in that direction to entice wagers on the other side.

I'm calling voters all over North Carolina

I was feeling beset by helplessness this morning, so I did something about it. Went to http://my.barackobama.com/call and got involved. So far I've talked at least two people into getting to the polls ASAP and I FEEL GREAT!!

Re: Go Vote

I can't believe anyone who frequents this site does not vote, but if they have not, shame, shame, go go go,go, you have no business doing anything here until you've filled out that ballot.

Re: Go Vote

Yep. Voted. Starbucks is saying, free coffee for everyone to celebrate the day. Go get a free coffee. Its not because you voted (they had their wrist slapped on that one).
