Let's Talk About The Economy

One in five homeowners owes more on their mortgage than their home is worth. The year 1991 was the last year consumer spending dropped for even one quarter.

But John McCain still doesn't want to put the economy front and center, he'd rather focus on Joe the Plumber. Oh, you can find a whole section on the economy under the Issues tab, sure, but consider:

I guess John McCain really is going to lose.

How'd that chant go again? Drill, baby, drill? Nah. Those guys need a new slogan. What about ... gone, baby, gone.

Joe the Plumber who is not even named Joe and makes more than 250,000 as a plumber.

Did you hear? He's undecided .

::snickers::

What a joke of a campaign McCain has run.

Can't wait for the Blue Wave of Change to put him out of his misery.

Surfs up McFailin!

Re: Let's Talk About The Economy

The economy will shrink with either Obama or McCain.

Why?

Workforce is shrinking.

More baby boomers will retire or die than new workers will replace them.

Likewise when those retires pull their money out of the stock market the market will drop.

Long term bear market until a large part of the baby boomers die off.

Immigration can more than make up for the shortfall.

Re: Let's Talk About The Economy

jOHN McCain was the first one to talk about the housing crisis and come up with a plan to keep people in their homes. I believe he addressed it in the debate; not Obama, he was too busy lookin' pretty and smirkin' like George Bush. You guys are pathetic.

Re: Let's Talk About The Economy

During the summer, I was telling all my friends that oil was about to crash.  The normal response was a combination of sympathy and bewilderment as everyone assumed I had lost my mind.  All I heard was peak oil this, gas prices that.  I knew that oil at $147 was unsustainable.

The law of supply and demand took over, and now I predict that we will see oil below $40 or even $30 per barrel.  Couple that with the fact that Obama will likely release some of the strategic petroleum reserve to put his boot on the throat of the oil companies.

As a result, the "drill baby drill" mantra is obsolete less than 6 weeks after its introduction.

Re: Let's Talk About The Economy

Is John McCain upside-down on any of his houses?

Or does he have sweetheart deals from Keating's successors?
