He's certainly showing more personality and passion in this speech than I've ever seen from him.

Haha. "We ran a campaign that was uplifting." Wha-? "...a return to honesty and substance in our political discussion." Huh?

Update [2008-1-29 21:26:4 by Jonathan Singer]: It's not quite a Nixonian flameout, but I keep thinking I'm going to hear the words, "You're not going to have Giuliani to kick around anymore..."

This is an "I told you so" moment for me. From day one, I just didn't think anyone would like Giuliani once they got to meet him. He was better off hiding behind the Myth of 9/11.

I've been with you on that from the beginning. Rudy was seen as the front-runner most of 2007, and I thought it was ridiculous. Back in February last year I was saying Romney would be the nominee.

Rudy's about to endorse McCain. He's giving a McCain speech right now. "America needs to stay on offense to win the terrorist war on us."

A few months back I read a diary at DKos that said Rudy was booed at Yankee Stadium.

Now, I'm kind of skeptical about stories like that, because it seems to always turn out that it was like 2 or 3 guys booing or something. Like that time with John Edwards at the Mellencamp concert.

So I went to see my boss, who is so apolitical he waited till the last day to decide between Bush and Kerry. "Hey, you went to the game last night, right? Is it true that Rudy got booed?"

He got this HUGE grin on his face. "They booed the hell out of him!"

They pick on Al Gore for not winning his home state but it was never like this.

I really regret

that Steve Gilliard has not been around to chronicle the demise of Rudy's campaign. He saw that one coming and would have written some very funny rants.

And since he's not here to say it himself, may I just add, "Fuck the fucking Yankees!"

BTW: the Liberal Media has covered a 3rd place, never won a thing candidate longer then the covered the Democratic winner. Just throwing that in for our GOP friends.

Rudy's wife is standing their with a huge smile on her face. She's probably thinking yea! Now we can go back to the good life of 100,000 dollar speaking engagements and shopping at High-end retailers. LOL!!! Oh yeah, and walking the little lap dog in the streets of Manhattan.

maybe i'm in the minority

but i think, had rudy run as rudy, and not rudy the "9/11 guy" or rudy the "politican" ... just rudy ... i think he could've done much better. if he had run as the guy who wasn't trying to court the right wing, but rather be who he is, i think he would've been better. he's not a bad speaker when he's not talking about policy ...

of course, had rudy even bothered showing up in new hampshire, iowa, sc ... any one of them ... he might've still had an outside shot to survive. i understand the strategy, but i think he should've given one of the earlier primaries a look.

his speech sounds very "obama-like". he could've been the republican obama in some respects. i don't agree with him, but i think he's the type of guy that can sell himself.
