Democratic Committees Continue Fundraising Dominance

It's the 20th of the month, so it's time to take a look at the campaign finance filings sent to the Federal Election Commission by the party campaign committees, a task that is significantly more difficult than before given the fact that Political Money Line is much less user-friendly and potentially even a pay service since it has been taken over by CQ.

Once again, as was the case last month, the Democratic committees have nearly doubled up their Republican counterparts in terms of cash-on-hand when debts and obligations are taken into account. This news comes even as the Republicans have finally brought in almost all of the cash that came in from the President's fundraiser earlier this summer.
Every month that goes by with the Democrats maintaining such a large cash-on-hand lead the Republicans get further and further away from being able to retake either chamber of Congress next fall. In the House, in particular, the Democrats were able to extend their cash-on-hand lead to close to an 11-to-1 margin, or $19,312,421.78. Including debts and obligations, the Democrats' lead is even larger (the NRCC is still well in the red), $19,855,605.52. Numbers like these mean that the Democrats can play ball in many, many more districts than the Republicans. The Democrats' roughly $14,000,000 lead in cash-on-hand for Senate committees has a similar effect as well. But even though the RNC continues to post better numbers than the DNC, both in terms of fundraising and cash-on-hand, Republicans shouldn't get their hopes up too much -- the Democratic presidential candidates are raising money at a significantly faster clip than the Republican candidates, so most, if not all, of the RNC's money is going to have to go to the presidential race rather than congressional ones.
