State Blog Roundup: Movement Building

mattw of MyLeftNutmeg.com kicks the State Blog Roundup into another gear this week. Cross-posted with permission:

Some of you might remember that MyLeftNutmeg.com was picked by BlogPAC earlier this year to receive a grant and billing as the state's "official" progressive blog. The idea was to build a network of progressive community blogs across all 50 states, and in the interest of getting more people talking to each other, a few of us have been kicking around the idea of doing a weekly post highlighting the best of the state-level blogosphere.

Last week West VA Blue set the ball rolling, and My Left Nutmeg is host to the 2nd week of this experiment. Expect to see a post each Friday or Saturday somewhere on the tubes, which will be linked or cross-posted here.

Since there's no real set rules as to how this works yet, I'm going to pick – as a theme – stories about progressive institutions and movement-building that give me some ideas about what we could be doing in-state.

Grassroots Policy Development

State of the State Parties

Street-Level Alliances

Election Reform and Voter Reg

Expanding Blogs' Reach

Re: State Blog Roundup: Movement Building

thanks for the shout out, Matt and thanks for checking out calitics. wish I could have been more helpful with Lamont and Farrell than I apparently was when I was back home in CT just before the election last year.

Election Weekend

At that point, it's just a matter of whether or not the campaigns have a plan that will win: sorry you came all the way out and neither campaign did :(

Re: State Blog Roundup: Movement Building

How does a state get added to the "State Blogs" list on the left side of the MyDD front page?  Alabama isn't listed, even though there are several blogs covering Alabama politics and progressive issues, including LeftInAlabama.

Re: State Blog Roundup: Movement Building

Needs to be lefty and primarily about politics, a community blog, and statewide. Which it looks like Left in Alabama is, so I went ahead and added it.

Re: State Blog Roundup: Movement Building

Thank you to whomever I should be thanking for front-paging this! Also, thank you to those who have volunteered to help with future weeks.

This is all still a grand experiment. It's only been two weeks, so I really don't know if its workable to have a different person take it on each week (recognizing it is substantial multiple hour task)... or ... we could change to a regional structure of culling posts with a central coordinator organizing the items for a final post. I can see either way working out.

For anyone interested in helping out in the future, send me an email at wvblue [at] gmail.com.

w00t!

Let's not forget the excellent community at BlueNC or the Hooligans who cover county and district politics in the western district of North Carolina
