Poem (Politics, Nature)

In the spirit of prior Friday poetry posts, here is a recent poem by me about nature and politics inspired by the Pacific Northwest where I live:

You can read more at my blog http://adam.artkillswar.org/

10-16-06
Fight & flutter fish up the fast flow Pacific Northwest river
Past the fallen trees dropping soldier sticks, advancing by days on the upcoming solstice
A near dark of stolen sound settling wagers on the overgrown green shores forgetting
The leaves are green because they told them to be green & the greenest belief
Of the current, tips on the Snoqualmie River reminding the forward motion that it's just as easy to recede
Is there remembrance in the changing geography of surface that was left alone upriver?
Or in those left behind that you remember by their failures of force & separation of purpose?
They call this swimming but you would call it adjusting one's mooring just to stay still
Letting sink the heavy anchor in the soft marsh floor of a river narrowing in the dusk & temperance of evening
As sunlight to moonlight settles from yellow to white on the unmoved rustling banks
Weighed down & compacted by moss spilling towards the river in staggering consequence
They would say that those with belief can be blind, those with skepticism unrewarded
By the same seasonal push of new run-off water over last year's deposed rocks
Moved just farther on than the marker

Roger Ailes Speech
(See the ailes thread below)
Ailes speech was given before the RTNDA which is the RADIO AND TELEVISION NEWS DIRECTORS ASSOCIATION. Thegroup is made up of your local
radio and television News Directors. That this organization would give Ailes any kind of award boggles the mind. Here is what it says in it's own code of ethics: "TRUTH: Professional electronic journalists should pursue truth aggressively and present the news accurately, in context, and as completely as possible." If you would like to register your opinion about this
award you may do so here: President Barbara Cochran RTNDA Washington barbarac@rtnda.org

Firefighters despise Rudy Giuliani.

That's a theme that needs a lot more coverage -- coverage like this.

Re: Richardson

Just saw that, thanks!  Great news.  Richardson took Edwards' lead, too bad the others didn't before the event was canceled.

Re: Open Thread

Well since you were polite enough to ask....

There's this: 'Chimp with a Gun!'

and this:

'A modest proposal for the disposition of the Libby sentencing...'

and oh, yeah Bush will be impeached...and sooner than you think.

Pro-Israel Lobbyists Push to Eliminate Anti-Iran War Language from Pelosi Iraq Bill

As everyone knows, House and Senate Democrats are trying to put together an Iraq war spending bill that will pressure the President to bring the troops home sooner rather than later. There is a general consensus on most issues relating to Iraq. However, the authoritative Congressional Quarterly daily report reveals today that some Democrats are fighting Speaker Pelosi's language which would prevent the President from going to war in Iran without the approval of Congress. Simply put, Pelosi wants to avoid a repeat of the Iraq experience in Iran. For Dems, this is a no-brainer, or so one would think.

But, according to CQ some of the same Democrats most vehement about ending the Iraq debacle are resisting denying the President unilateral authority to go to war in Iran. The hypocrisy is astounding. It is worth noting that the AIPAC conference begins in Washington this weekend with thousands of citizen lobbyists being deployed to Capitol Hill to deliver the message that Iran must be dealt with, one way or another.

This battle over the Pelosi language is part of the overall Iran effort.

And you thought it couldn't happen again!

The Black Blogosphere is up in arms about Obama's disrespecting of Dr. Jeremiah Wright the day of his announcement.

http://skepticalbrotha.wordpress.com/200 7/03/06/obama-disses-his-pastor/

I don't think the Obama camp understands the ripples that this story is creating in the Black Blogosphere.

As someone who has been defending Senator Obama in the Black Blogosphere, I feel he cut the legs right from under me. There really is no excuse for what he did, and it IS a betrayal.

But, I believe most on this blog just won't ' get it' as to why it upsets the Black Blogosphere so much.
