Lieberman Will Run As Independent

Lieberman's true colors are revealed for the entire nation to see. He will begin collecting signatures to run as an independent.

Here is what I have right now:

Joe will announce he's pulling petitions from the sec. of state to run in November.
Joe will say he intends to run in the primary.
Joe will say if he loses the primary, he intends to run as a "petitioning Democrat in November"

More as it develops. Joe Lieberman has left the party. If the DSCC backs anyone except the Democratic nominee, they better be prepared for real consequences. Do not abandon your own party and break your own rules and then expect the plebs who have been playing by those rules to sit quietly and accept it.

Further thoughts and developments:

Lieberman's internal polling ont he primary must be really, really poor. Look for Lamont to win the primary, possibly by a big margin.

Who in the hell came up with the idea of calling Joementum a 'petitioning Democrat'? That sounds idiotic beyond belief.

Ned Lamont just won the primary today.

There can be only one "Democrat" on the

ballot in November.

If Lieberman's petitions say the word Democrat on them, wouldn't that be cause for them to be thrown out? Could (and would) the Connecticut Democratic Party sue Joe (for Trademark infringement?) for using the word "Democrat" in any way in connection with this effort?

Anyone know what the law on this is?

Party rules do in fact say that the Democratic Party controls the Democratic name as a trademark. There's a bit of a bruhaha going on in Western CO between the state GOP and "The Republican Caucus" - same shit, different party.

If Lieberman decides to promote himself as a "petitioning Democrat", then he's either due for a challenge from the party on the term "Democrat", or the party loses its ability to protect its brand name for failing to protect it.

Time for Schumer, Reid and others to step up to the plate and slap Lieberman upside the head.

Lieberman is showing himself to be the most inept politician in America.

Okay, he was having a tough time in the primary, but there was still a chance that he would win. Now he will almost certainly lose, and worse for him he will probably be crippled after losing the primary.

"Sore Loserman" anyone? That's our line of attack after the primary.

Not to mention that there aren't any other Dems running for the VT seat anyway (that I know of)--the entire state Dem party is essentially in agreement on supporting Sanders, AFAIK.

Gotta think this backfires on Namrebeil.

Eoj Namrebiel blew it today. Big time. Lamont picks up more momentum and wins the primary. CT residents look at Namrebeil and the unpopular war he so loves and start asking themselves "Why should we vote for this schmuck?" Lamont rides the momentum from the primary victory into the election where Namrebeil and the token Republican split the Republican vote while Lamont picks up the Democrats and enough independents to carry the election.

Eoj Namrebeil showed his lack of campaign skills in his own presidential run and truth be told I think his presence, what with all that charisma, was actually a drag on the Gore campaign in 2000. It's time for Eoj to go back to his role as Willy Tanner on ALF.

I tried to read that post, but the backwards spelling just put a bunch of random psychedelic sounds in my mind (tape distortion, wah-wah pedals, inverted guitar solos, et cetera) and I couldn't concentrate on the rest of the words.

Who's next? Landrieu? Nelson? Bayh? DiFi?? The 10 Democrats who just voted to support human trafficking with Oman?

I called 'em up, since I'm off work today. Guy who answered the phone said he was the only person in the office today, and that there would be no statement today. He urged me to call back Wednesday.

I can't image that the nation party, or the DSCC would actually try to undermine another Democrat. I just can't image they would do such a thing as undermine a Democrat. Just can't imagine...
