ACTION--Fundraising Deadline TODAY
by Chris Bowers, Fri Mar 31, 2006 at 12:52:38 PM EST
Today is the first quarter fundraising deadline, and the numbers it reveals will have a significant impact on what candidates are considered viable by the media covering races, by staffers looking to join up with winners, by advocacy groups thinking about making endorsements, and by the political establishment looking distribute targeted resources. Because of this, I am asking you to open your wallets for all four of the active candidates on the netroots fundraising page:
- Donate to Ned Lamont. Seriously. It is difficult to overestimate how much the netroots are putting on the line in this campaign. It is difficult to overestimate how much the Democratic leadership in DC would change if we were to help take out Lieberman. This is a race that could really change things. Lamont is strong progressive and receiving a ton of great press as Lieberman does little but whine, threaten, and lash out. You can read the extensive MyDD archive on Ned Lamont here, and the truly remarkable Dailykos archive on this race here.
- Donate to Francine Busby, who is running in the special election for CA-50. Yesterday, a poll showed that Francine was close to victory in CA-50 on April 11th, but we should be bracing for the possibility of a June 6th run-off in any event. Also, as I am sure you know, the netroots came through big by exposing a huge lie on Iraq by one of her opponents, Howard Kaloogian. You can read Francine Busby's diary on MyDD here.
- Donate to Jon Tester, who is running in the Democratic Senatorial primary in Montana. Montana blogger Matt Singer writes the case for Tester here. You can read Tester's diary on MyDD here, and Jonathan's Singer's conversation with him here.
- Donate to Eric Massa, a fighting Dem in the winnable NY-29th matched up against Randy Kuhl, a Republican who has no problem pulling a shotgun on his wife and then thinking he still the sort of person who should be in Congress. David NYC has the case for Massa here. You can read Massa's diary on MyDD here, and Matt Stoller's conversation with him here.
