Carwell says that McCaskill's people still feel they will win based on whats reported so far...

Even better would be Ford pulling it out too.  Then time to strip Joementum of his status.

Re: Webb Takes The Lead

I heard that Fords race will be fairly close but not as interesting as McCaskill's. Claire has dem strongholds left to count, she's at 60% vote count.

Georgia went deep red today... sigh.. we are now as red as Texas.

Re: Webb Takes The Lead

Claire will WIN!!!  Kansas City has ZERO.....as in 0 votes counted and in 2002 they gave Sen Jean a VERY large 55,000 voye margin.  If you add in St Louis County and another 10,000.  MO will go BLUE!!!!!!  Also, here in St Charles County Talent's vote margin was WAY down from 2002.  Sen-elect Claire by 25,000 plus.

Re: Webb Takes The Lead

Let me be more specific because the last 1% of the vote that has not been counted looks to be important to who wins the race. One percent of the vote in this race equals about 23,285 votes.  Webb is up 2376 votes with 99% counted.  That means Webb has a huge, significant advantage, but probably not quite enought to call it.

Re: Webb Takes The Lead

Mainly St. Louis left in MO.  They are always last.  Did I mention how brilliant Colbert/Stewart are?  I am watching their show now.  Far more entertaining than the windbags on the networks/cable.

The few precincts left in VA are all Webb favorable.  But only a few votes left there to count.  Absentee?

OK

Dan Seals is still in with a shout in Illionois 10. He's down 53-47 with 71% counted. This is a district Kerry won by a substantial margin, but it was on nobody's radar.

Leach is losing in Iowa-02 with over 80% counted. This was another one on noone's radar.

Finally, Hall looks like he's going to win. He's still leading Kelly with 94% counted. Yet another longshot that could pull through.

look at CNN's by-county results...

Only 2 counties remain with precincts to report. Webb is winning handily in both counties.  Webb won this.

by Forward with Feingold 2006-11-07 07:05PM | 0 recs
Re: look at CNN's by-county results...

Acctually if you take a closer look there are 7 counties that are still reporting. 5 for Webb, 1 for Allen, and 1 dead heat. It looks like he will win.

by Forward with Feingold 2006-11-07 07:08PM | 0 recs
Re: look at CNN's by-county results...

I've been extrapolating based on who's leading in cities and counties with precincts yet to report.  According to my rough estimates, Allen stands to add to his leads in Gloucester, Harrisonburg, Prince Edward, and Virginia Beach by a total of 310 votes.  But Webb stands to add a total of 2325 votes to his leads in Arlington, Charlottesville, Fairfax, Fairfax City, Isle of Wight, and Loudoun.

And I'm not considering absentee votes in these calculations.  MSNBC has Webb leading by 3265 votes.  My calculations would push that lead to more than 5000 votes.  Then add in the absentee votes that come mostly from Webb strongholds.  It's been a long night, and I don't have many nails left, but I'm feeling great.

Re: look at CNN's by-county results...

Looking at the overall Senate picture at CNN, it obvious that dems just slaughtered the republicans in the Senate.  All the dems won or came close, except for Lamont.  Friggin' amazing.

Re: Webb Takes The Lead

Ford didn't do so badly when all was said and done. 48-51 is no landslide for Corker.

by billybob 2006-11-07 07:03PM | 0 recs
Re: Webb Takes The Lead

Garance had a post early today saying that the "Call Me" add may have hurt Ford racially but it was also aimed at women. It sent a message that if you were a woman who thought Ford was handsome and/or wanted to vote for him if you did you were no better than the trampy bunny. She says Ford's lead among women was cut substantially due to that add.

Re: Webb Takes The Lead

Montgomery County hasn't reported yet in Tennessee... isn't that likely to be for Ford?

by alydar 2006-11-07 07:06PM | 0 recs
Re: Webb Takes The Lead

MSNBC is showing numbers that apparently are more recent than the State of Virginia's site. (Don't ask me how, I have no idea.) They have Webb pulling ahead, too.

If the remaining precincts are Webb's, we get to take this thing to the morning papers having won. That fkn RULES!

McCaskill

St. Louis County (not City) is only 10% in.  Of what's reported, its leaned McCaskill

by alydar 2006-11-07 07:11PM | 0 recs
Re: Webb Takes The Lead

absentee ballots are still out for:

Arlington County (currently 73-26 Webb)
Fairfax County (currently 59-40 Webb)
Richmond (currently 72-26 Webb)
Virginia Beach (currently 52-46 Allen)

as long as Webb maintains a lead prior to the absentees being counted, he's got it.

by johnny longtorso 2006-11-07 07:11PM | 0 recs
Re: Webb Takes The Lead

Do absentee ballots usually reflect the 'normal' votes for a county?  Or do they tend to lean to one demographic (such as, say, troops)

If the dems take the senate and house is this proof that the Rethugs have not been stealing the vote? Although still repressing it.

by Forward with Feingold 2006-11-07 07:15PM | 0 recs
Re: Webb Takes The Lead

Stealing the vote nationwide is damn near impossible... Doing it for one state to tip the presidential election is feasible...  Jeb proved it in 2000 and Blackwell proved it in 2004.

Re: Webb Takes The Lead

Webb needs to declare victory NOW. It's the strategy that Bush used to great effect in Florida in 2000, so much so that even today, when we know the vote totals in the state favored Gore, people still see Gore as a crybaby whining because he lost. If he doesn't, it'll give legitimacy to Allen's attempts to corrupt the vote.

Declare. Victory. Now.

  J H Webb Jr      Democratic     1,139,885     49.36%
  G G Parker      Independent Green     25,604     1.11%

Those aren't Green votes

Parker is with the Independent Green Party, which is totally different from the Green Party.

see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Independent _Green_Party_of_Virginia

The IGP styles itself as fiscally conservative and socially liberal.  There is no reason to believe that they pulled preferentially from Webb over Allen.  Unfortunately they were not included in the exit poll data published by CNN, so it is hard to test this.
