Unexpected Wins

Carol Shea-Porter just picked up New Hampshire's first congressional district. Jason Altmire just won Pennsylvania's 4th district. CNN doesn't have a picture on their website for Carol Shea-Porter. As an aside Carol Shea-Porter raised more than $85,000 through ActBlue.

Re: Unexpected Wins

Well, PA-04 wasn't totally unexpected. Hart never had a competent Dem challenger before, many of us said if she got one, in a majority Dem registration district, she could easily lose. And so it has come to pass. :)

Re: Unexpected Wins
True indeed. I know labor was working hard in the district. I marked it as a switch on my own list of House seats but I thought it was more my heart than head. I'm ecstatic to see it switch.

Re: Unexpected Wins

CNN says voters left to be counted are in African American Richmond city, absentees from Arlington and New Port News.

That means one naval republican area, and two Dem areas.

Keep up the good work, bro. It's already looking drunk here on the West coast.

Unfortunately, looks like Mean Jean Schmidt will return to do her damage -- this time as a member of the minority. I'll take my schadenfreude where I can get it.

Re: Unexpected Wins

As an aside, it looks like New Hampshire may very well be the most dramatic red-to-blue state in the nation in the last few years.

Not only was it the only state to vote for Bush in 2000 but not in 2004, but both incumbent Reps. are tossed (Carol-Porter is a HUGE upset -- I can't believe it happened) and it looks like the huge GOP majorities in the State House and Senate will be decimated.

So, awesome news out of New Hampshire.

In a night of shining stars, New Hampshire stands out along with Pennsylvania. Kudos to all!

KS 02

CNN has called the race for Boyda in KS...how big is that???? Man, this feels good.

Re: KS 02

I was hoping we'd snag a seat among 3 I thought possible between NE and KS.  I was hoping to see Kleeb pull it off... but I'd also note that NE-02 (Esch/Terry) is still quite close.

A seat in BOTH NE and KS?

No way you can't call that a wave.

Craig's strong in ID-1 and Trauner isn't out yet - it looks like a recount either way, but still hope.

Where will the 2012 GOP convention be held?   Jackson or Mobile?

GOP 2012

Oh, they'll probably hold it in New Orleans to celebrate their amazing response to Katrina. Or possibly in Detroit, where they've done really well also. DeVos and Bouchard? Hahahahahahaha!!!!!

Re: Unexpected Wins

Take a peek at NY19. With 97% in, John Hall is up by 4000 over Sue Kelly.  I was knocking on doors this afternoon, and you could feel the energy.

I just wanna say...

I knew it was waaayyy optimistic, but I picked +43.   I know it's still something of a longshot -- but if you told me today that I would be up at 12:30 with still a fighting chance at that number.

I know it looks like it's going to be closer 35... but I see something in the low forties still VERY possible.

Maybe no better than 1 in 5, 1 in 7... but still - AMAZING!

Even the vidiots are starting to use terms like "shocking", "landslide", and "GOP disaster".

my time for humble pie

and it tastes just fine.

I have close personal connections to NH-01, I spent my teen years there and my family still lives there. I thought nominating Carol Shea Porter was a missed opportunity, avote for the heart over the head. Well, let's hear it for the heart! I'm glad I was wrong.

Re: Unexpected Wins

Go Carol Shea Porter! Sadly, my county voted against her, but I'm glad to know my vote was one of the 742 for her. :)
