Turnout locally (Greater Portland, ME) similar to a presidential year. Voted at 5, line out the door, took 20 min. This has never happened in 20 years of mid-terms....
i waited in line today in my district in NY. That was a first. We have no competitive local races and all the dems are huge favorites and i'm in a very heavy dem district. It would've been easy to sit this one out and not feel guilty. It was looking like record turnout.
Lamont-- apparently, he's ahead in the early exit polling. Take it fwiw, but thats the buzz.
I'll lose money but who gives a crap. A whiny and stunned Lieberman concession speech would be highlight reel, something to keep and cherish.
At the same token, a Lamont lead makes me a bit edgy about relying on the margins in the other exit polls. In 2004 I gave up and turned off the TV and computer very early, while progressive blogs were still celebrating, because it was obvious the exit polls made no sense in relation to the partisan index, and I was sure narrow theoretical leads in Ohio and Florida wouldn't hold up since everything was tilted.
The numbers today seem much more realistic, albeit a bit high. I'm worried about Missouri.
Wonkette and TNR have posted those as well. Truly astounding if that is close to where we end up. We may even win AZ in the Senate as close as it is.
If Dem turnout in Maine points to Gov. Baldacci holding on that is good.
If Dem turnout in Maine points to Jean Hay Bright beating Olympia Snowe then I would double check your figures.
