Use It Or Lose It: Down To The Wire

So far, the campaign has been working quite well. At least a dozen Representatives and two Senators have made large contributions over the past week (in MA alone, people like Kerry, Kennedy, Frank, Markey, and Capuano have given). Whether or not it was because of our campaign, I can't imagine that your encouragement hurt. Just read some of our statements of support:
- Barney Frank
- Hilda Solis
- Earl Blumenauer
- Grace Napolitano: "Rep. Napolitano would like to thank her constituents who have placed calls on behalf of the Use It Or Lose It initiative. They reaffirmed her effort to contribute more to Democratic congressional candidates. She will continue to pay close attention to more congressional races so that she may be able to contribute more funds prior to Election Day"
We are not DCCC lone sharks. We are not consultants looking for more advertising commissions, ala my suspicions of the people who set up Hey, John! We are staunch supporters of the fifty-state strategy, who frown upon narrow targeting and look for Democrats to spend resources in every state and district. We are grassroots Democrats looking to take advantage of a truly rare opportunity.
In 2006, fifty or sixty (or more) Republican held seats are in play. We know this chance might not come again in a long, long time. In this one instance, we want ultra-safe Democrats to transfer a large, but non-crippling, amount of their funds in order to help fully fund our challengers in all of these districts. This could very well be a one shot deal--don't expect to see a replay of this campaign in future cycles.
There are only a couple of more days where such transfers would be relevant or useful.. We know that many of these Representatives have given already this cycle. We know it isn't easy to give away money like this. We don't even need credit. We are just looking for ways to help extend the playing field in this elections.
Your calls are making an impact. People are giving. Please, keep calling today.
