THAT ROOOOOCKS!!!!
I don't know if he stands a chance in hell, but that is just awesome!

On a more serious note, 25% turnout?  Jimminy Cricket, we could kick their ass with a serious GOTV effort.  I've always thought that postcards put in their door personally with the following:

When South Africans got the right to vote in 1994, they waited in lines several miles long, in 100 degree heat, for hours on end, to kick out a corrupt government.  What's your excuse?

This is actually a seriously good idea.
I think I'm going to pass it on to Chris Bell and John Courage.  Thanks.

Re: This is actually a seriously good idea.
No problem, I would love for this idea to get out there.  I am definitely making signs, pamphlets, etc for the 2006 NC election.
We have two weeks to vote, so this type of thing can be very powerful.

Is that Ad really running?
Wow!  I love Bill Hillsman ever since he did the first Paul Wellstone ads.  God he's creative.

I hope it does inspire some people to start thinking about shaking things up in the 2nd largest state in the union.

Well....
Much as I love Kinky's music and his writing (books and Texas Monthly articles), I don't think he can actually, well, govern.  He does run an animal rescue operation, which we have supported financially and by buying his salsa at Gucci-B market, but that ain't the same as governing. Plus, and this is a big, honkin' plus, he is very good friends with Laura Bush and her husband.  I kid you not.  Well, yeah, he is also friends with Willie Nelson, but that ain't a ringin' endorsement either.  They both give a real fine show, it's true; but governing ain't all show.  My money and my time go to Chris Bell for governor of the Great State of Texas.  He actually has had some governing experience, plus, and this is also a big honkin' plus, he is the guy that brought ethics charges against Tom DeLay, and paid the price for it, too.  Now, wouldn't it more satisfying to have the guy who spanked Tom's butt be voted in as governor of Texas, rather than either Gov. Hair or Gov Kinky?  Think about how pissed off Tom DeLay would be with that action!

Re: Well....
Isn't the Governor of Texas a largely powerless position?  I remember during the Bush campaign people mentioned that the Lt. Governor makes the budget and other offices are in charge of other facets.

Anyone?

Re: Well....
See the following link for a very nice description of the powers of the Texas executive branch.  The governor of Texas does have limited power compared to other executive offices.  The governor's major power comes from being the "figurehead"... a position I think Kinky could fill nicely.

Who cares?
There's a perfectly fine Democrat in this race. Kinky's running on a cult of personality and one-liners. Not for me, thanks.

Weak Governor?
Maybe the Lt. Governor gets to mess with the budget in Texas but the Governor gets to make life or death decisions. GW Bush chose to murder people about 155 times.
