Pleasure marriages, according to Shiite Muslims, were permitted by Mohammad as a respectable way for widows to earn a living. A pleasure marriage contract can be as short as one hour or as long as ten years. A widow can enter into this contract with a married or single man in exchange for payment. The contract allows the woman to have sex with the man, but not "share his bed." I guess this means no sleep-overs.

Whew! Since Bush is responsible for creating thousands of widows in Iraq, he must be proud that the Shiite political majority has restored prostitution. Now, maybe Bush can wiggle out of having the US government, meaning your tax dollars, compensate all of the widows he created. Now Bush can encourage the entrepreneurial spirit of all of these newly freed gals.

What probably needs to happen in order for support of the war to rapidly drop to levels that will basically require Republicans in Washington to start withdrawing troops is for gay marriage to be legalized in Iraq, and the insurgency to decry the new law. At that point, you would probably see the religious right basically demand a pullout. It might also help if the new Iraqi government demands that the feeding tube of Terri Huissein be removed. Who knows--at that point, they might even demand that we fund the insurgency.
